In 1980, the Albariño Specific Designation of Origin was established. Four years later, the Regulation for the Albariño Specific Designation of Origin was approved, together with that of its Regulatory Council.
Due to the need to adapt Spanish legislation to community legislation, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Mountains recognises the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin and its Regulatory Council.
In 1988 the Rías Baixas Designation of Origin consisted of 3 perfectly individualised sub-zones in the province of Pontevedra: Val do Salnés, Condado do Tea and O Rosal. In October of 1996 Soutomaior is incorporated and in May of 2000 it is extended to include the Ribeira do Ulla. |
